Have you mastered getting your students to report their non-credit internships? Come share your ideas on how your institution tracks non-credit bearing internships to help others find ways to do so.
Many of your CEIA colleagues need help with tracking internship completion, especially those non-credit bearing internships their students are completing. Do you have thoughts on how to get students to report internships they have completed? We would love your thoughts on strategies for getting students to report their internships to us. Please join us to share your ideas.

The role of apprenticeships, as a form of work-integrated learning, is expanding across the US. Growth in apprenticeships is accelerating in the tech industry, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, business operations and finance. Today’s learners come from increasingly diverse backgrounds, cultures, socioeconomic status and age with many requiring to work as they go through their education or in addressing their need for re-skilling. US states and post-secondary institutions are responding, with funding and emerging apprenticeship programs to help bridge the gap. In this panel discussion, we will learn from experts from four different states who will share the benefits that apprenticeships have for student learning, the benefits for the employer, the benefits for the post-secondary institution and the local economy as a whole. In addition, information will be shared as to forming, launching and running a successful apprenticeship program and how common challenges can be overcome. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions to our panel towards the end of the session. We look forward to you joining us.

Have you struggled to engage the academically-focused students or the students who lack confidence in pursuing traditional 10-12 week internships? Micro-internships could be one of the solutions! Micro-internships are being used to improve hiring outcomes, create talent pipelines, and engage college students prior to junior or senior year.
Are micro-internships a steppingstone to longer-term internships? Join career development practitioners in discussing best practices for engaging students and employers through micro-internships. Topics could include benefits, micro-internship programs and models, and integrating micro-internships into academic courses.

How can we support students who are drawn to fields that typically offer unpaid internships? Many students simply cannot afford to take an unpaid internship, no matter how good the learning opportunity is. During this session, you’ll have a chance to hear from two people who manage university programs offering pay for unpaid internships. Then, we’ll break into discussion groups to learn from each other. If you’ve had success in this area, we want to hear from you! If you would like to start or grow such a program, come hear what your colleagues are doing so we can help even more students.
