Faculty Champion Award

For Outstanding Faculty Contribution to the Field of Cooperative Education and Internships

About the Award:

CEIA has launched this new award to recognize distinguished achievement and excellence by a faculty member in the field of cooperative education and internships. The hallmark of a quality work-integrated learning experience is an intentional pairing of academics with hands-on work experience. This new award aims to celebrate the faculty champions who help promote work-integrated learning on their campuses and in their own courses.

This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the promotion and advocacy of work-integrated learning by a member of the faculty. The award is given every year. The award is competitively determined and is intended to recognize significant contributions to the field both by incorporating work-integrated learning experiences into their own courses and in furthering the commitment of their institution in providing these experiences to students. Three winners will be chosen annually and will be honored at the Business Meeting at the CEIA annual conference.

The nominees should show longstanding contributions to the field of cooperative education and internships or broad impact at their institutions (both not required) by incorporating work-integrated learning experiences into their own classes and furthering the field on their campuses. Examples of expanding the field could come in a variety of activities, such as launching experiential learning initiatives, writing for publication on experiential education, and providing leadership to other faculty (not an exhaustive list). Please note in the application whether the nominee is able to count their work-integrated learning activities towards tenure and promotion. If they are not able to count these activities towards tenure and retention, they will be granted an extra point in the rubric as a way of recognizing the extra level of work a faculty member must put in to WIL activities when they are not a required portion of their workload.
